CDC Now Recommends Just 2 HPV Vaccine Doses

The CDC now recommends just 2 Human Papillomavirus vaccine doses for adolescents who begin the HPV vaccine series before age 15. Studies have shown that two doses spaced 6 months apart work just as well as the previously recommended three-shot regimen.

If your adolescent began his or her HPV vaccine series before the age of 15, he or she does not need to return until 6 months after the first vaccine for the second and last vaccination of the series. This new recommendation does not apply to adolescents who begin the HPV vaccine series after turning age 15.
